Effects of Physostigmine and Atropine on the Isolated Uteri of the White Rats

Abstract
Administration of Physostigmine and Atropine to the isolated uteri of the white rats has revealed the following findings.
A) The isolated uterus of virgin rat did not affect the response of uterine motility by the administration of 10-4 i¢¥tysostigmine, but ascent of ton.us and slight increase of amplitude of uterine motility wera always occured by 10-4 Atropine after administration of physostigmine.
T:) By the administration of physostigmine, different actions in each one of the isolated uteri of pregnant of 7, 10, 13, 14, 15, 18, 20 and 21 days and non-pregnant rats, occured as follows.
1. The isolated uteri of pregnant rats of 5 and 18 days did not affect the response of uterine motility by 10-4 Physostigmine, but mild contraction were occured by 10-4 atropine after administration of 10-4 P hysostigmine.
2. ¢¥lie isolated uteri. of pregnant rats of 13, 14, and 15 days produced marked ascent of tonus, increase of amplitude and moderate contraction of uterine motility by 10-4 Physostigmine, but actions of physostigmine did not affect the response of uterine motility by
10-4 atropine alter administration of 10-4 Physostigmine.
3, The isolated uteri of pregnant rats of 20, 21 and 22 days produced marked decrease of amplitude, descent of tonus and cessation of uterine motility by the 10-4 Physostigmine, but actions of Physostigmine were occured marked increase of amplitude and mild contraction of uterir.a motility by 10-4 Atropine after administration of 10-4 physostigmine.
